Why do Protestant reformers and current Protestant have a diffrent view on Mary ?

Many early reformers did, indeed, venerate the Virgin Mary. However, as the Reformation continued, some churches (and individuals) were so anxious to distance themselves from what they felt were the excesses of the Catholic Church that they threw out anything that smacked of "Romish" doctrines. So out went a lot of the sacraments, the veneration of Mary and the saints, infant baptism (in some cases), the rite of Confession, and many other practices.
