Granny's who love too much?

Many Mothers have problems with their Mothers in Law...for various reasons...mine is an extremely loving woman..kind and generous who would do anything for her grandchildren...but she is overbearing and too intense...her affection wears my children out and they get irritated and around her. She lives abroad and my husband wanted us to live there for 3 years but I didnt want to uproot my children...there are no little cousins over there for them and the schools are very bad...anyway..I was just looking through some old photos and when I saw ones of my MIL with my kids, I realised that part of my not wanting to live over there was because of her, kind as she is...when I lived over there for a year with my husband and our 1st baby, I often felt uncomfortable around her intensity...I had a notion that were my husband and I to split, that she would do ANYTHING to keep her grandchild in that country near her...it was more of an instinct...now we are in the UK I am still very unwilling to go over there because of this...do you think I am paranoid or should I trust my instincts? I dont think that my hsbad and I will split...we love each other...but you never know do you? And people CAN make it hard for people to leave a country with the kids....mine have dual nationality too.

Peat in an aquarium to lower pH?

Hi, I have a 55 gallon with 4 discus in it, and I have pretty hard, alkaline water. I don't like using chemicals to lower pH or anything, but I know lots of people use peat in the filter to bring down the pH, and I thought I should try it. Biggest Rut of my life! Not motivated, don't care..need help!?

Tattoo Scab?

I got my third tattoo around 11 days ago in a highly recomended shop in Belfast, Northern Ireland, they told me to go home wash it and apply a layer of Bepanthen cream 3 times a day for 2 weeks, this I did and found Bepanthen had made my tattoo come out far better than the other two I have, my only concern is that I have a rose with a tribal wrapped around it and the black of the tribal and reds and white of the rose never scabbed they just pealed a little but the green has sort of scabbed its still quite raised up, I am to go back 3 weeks after I got my tattoo for a check up but just asking here incase I should go back earlier.

i am 14.i did a lot of research on cancer cuz i have extreme pains(often) in my elbow and wrist that radiate through my lower arm. other times in my chest. after a minute the pain disappears. until a few days, weeks or hours later. in the metastic type of Ewing's sarcoma cancer, the pain spreads. i looked and looked on google. i am always tired even though i get 8 hours of sleep every night though i am tired for many hours later, i have shadows under my eyes, i don't think I'm losing weight, i have pains in my chest(all of my pains feel the same, nothing triggers the pain, it just happens), i don't feel lumps, and i don't have fevers(but i do get dizzy), i have persistent fatigue. i found that it can be in your bone marrow. if its in your bone marrow, would you feel lumps? also, would you necessarily have a fever?

What do you do with an elderly father who can no longer take care of himself, yet refuses to admit it?

Oh my GOD! Do I know the position you are in? My Dad is 92 and my Mom is almost 90. Thank GOD they are both in relatively good health but they both need constant supervision which is now being provided by my older sister and brother in law that are now retired. They recently purchased a large home in partnership with my parents so they could be there with them 24/7 and also they have home health care and personal care istants that come in every day or so to carry a good deal of the load. No they are by no means financially well off but Medicare picks up the majority of the bills. As a family we had to do what was necessary for the welfare of the two of them which meant convincing them to sell their home of 35+ years and move to another state where they could be closer to family members that could help. My dad especially said for a year or more that there was NO WAY he would agree to selling his home and move to another state and sharing a home with anyone else, family or not, after all this was his 'home', the place where he was most comfortable and the place where he felt secure and where he wanted to die when his time came. He flaty refused to even discuss It PERIOD! We also had good legal counsel and clergy members that we used as 'outside' intermediaries to offer him their best advice. He still said NO WAY! It came down to us making the decision for him and because of his age, declining health and mental faculties we were able to sell the family home (Sigh) and force my folks to make the ultimate move. Was it the hardest decision any of us have ever made or hopefully will ever have to make? Without a doubt..... YES! We all watched with tearful eyes as both of them had tears in their eyes as they were put in the car and drove away from their 'home sweet home' never to return. We looked at it like this, what are the alternatives and which is the better choice? There comes a point in the lives of our elderly parents or grandparents when we must realize that we must take control and do what is best for them. When we are of sound mind and body we need to look out for those that are not. I am also in the business of providing home health monitoring for elderly persons living alone or for homebound persons as well as those people of any age that are even partially incapable of caring for themselves. I have found that in 99% of the cases that I have known it's the elderly that are not willing to admit that they need help in their daily lives. I have come to find what I think is the answer as to why they feel this way. It is everyones worst nightmare to think they will be admitted to a nursing home for the remainder of their lives if they show signs of not being capable of caring for themselves. Therefore they put up this front of being totally capable of caring for themselves as a defense mechanism in hopes of maintaining their independence. As family members we have to read between the lines and recognize the signs that they are NOT any longer capable of being alone. My sister recently asked my Dad if he would agree to having a physical therapist come to the house and work with him in hopes of helping him regain some use of his hands and arms since he is now unable to hold anything in his hands and he has to be hand fed every morsel of food that he consumes. He said absolutely not! His reason was that he realizes now that this is what must be expected at his age therefore it would be a waste of time, effort any money. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do but just remember that there are only a couple of choices and you are much more capable of making those choices than your elderly father. Do what is best for him and don't second guess your decision regardless of how hard it is to do so. My prayers are with you as you go forward with this most difficult decision.

Well your missing a dad which is a nice thing to have but I know a lot of well rounded people who grew up with out one. Why your mom even wrote a name down is beyond me, because you can leave the father area blank as long as you are not married, so I don't understand why your mother did that, it is wrong because what if one day the state asks your mom to track down the "father" for child support? Abnormal EEG, What now?

Hi ! My neurologist made an appointment for me to get an EEG. Because of somethings i dont know. Like I've had migraines for about 9 months. Then i started getting what i thought was vertigo. 9 1/2 mo old picky eater ... any suggestions??

My little gal just decided last week that she didn't want me to feed her at all .... She had been a champion eater with her purees and hadn't shown a lot of interest in finger food. Now, she only wants to self-feed, which is fine, but she'll only eat a few things ... cut up bananas, cheerios, bagels with a tiny bit of peanut er (doc said it was ok) and Gerber pasta pickups. That's it. I've tried other soft fruits, avacado, little chunks of meat, cheese, etc. and she won't take any of it. Other than bananas, she doesn't seem to like "slimy" foods. I am still nursing, so I know she's getting nutrients, but I have cut back a little. I know it's probably a phase... That said, I would still appreciate any other tips or ideas that any of you may have. Thank you!!

My fish keeps getting sick and I don't know what I am doing wrong. He had tail/fin rot and lost a lot of his tail and a little of his fin. It went away. A few days ago it started again. Then, it appeared to stop. Now, I looked at him a few minutes ago and it looks like it is again starting. I don't see him biting his tail. Any suggestions? I have a 3 gallon carbon filtered tank. I change his water every week about 25%. He has two tall silk plants and two small ones that cover the gravel. Also, there is a heater in there and a thermometer. When I clean the tank I notice white flakes coming off of the heater suction cups and the thermometer suction cup. No idea what that is. My co-worker said it is salt because I use aquarium salt in the tank. I had the since the first week in June and there is only one betta in there. When I clean I can't absolutely get every piece of waste I see, but I try to get most of it. Little particles are hard to get at when I clean they come up and float around

I've tried to install RIVEN, the sequel to Myst several times on my windows XP, it's accepted it before, but every time I get to the part where I have to either 'complete' or 'restart' the installation of the Quick Time files, an error report pops up and doesn't let me finish! There's a certain file that it reaches and I'm guessing that file can't upload?? Because it's always that certain file that invokes the error report. Abnormal Pap? Pregnancy? Are they linked?

I am 9 days late I had my last period on the 19th of Feb. I had a pap smear on the 10th and I honestly dont know if they did a pregnacy test on me. Help potty training my 2 year old daughter?

im trying potty train my daughter who is 2.5 years old, most people have told me to wait untill she is closer to 3 but the largest diapers available no longer fit her due to her curvyness. i have tried pull-ups, and sitting with her on the potty for somtimes an hour at a time several times per day, she just wont go, she doesnt understand when she is and isnt going. after she pee's in her diaper she will say she is "all wet" but wont go on the potty. iv tried treats, songs, big girl underwear, elmo's potty training videos , distractions, juice while on the potty to ecourage her to go ect. it just isnt working, this is the 3rd week of doing all these things and still no better off than we were a month ago. the diapers no longer fit and i HAVE to find away to speed up the process. what can i do any help?

Hey lovely parents, need some help with a formula question!?
